Getting started

A consultation comes first.

A consultation confirms whether a treatment suits you before anything is booked. Treatment prices are confirmed at consultation.

What a mole check involves

Your check begins with a thorough visual examination of your skin by an experienced clinician, using dermatoscopy where needed. We assess moles for irregularities or changes that could indicate risk, explain the risk factors for some skin cancers and advise on protecting your skin from sun damage.

If a mole appears suspicious, we can arrange a minor surgery procedure to remove the lesion or a referral to a dermatologist or specialist for further testing. The vast majority of moles are harmless.

When to book

  • A mole you have not seen before
  • A mole that has changed in shape or colour
  • Concerns about past sun exposure
  • Skin cancer in your family history
  • Moles on your back, which are hard to see clearly

Mole removal options

If you would like a mole removed for cosmetic or medical reasons, we offer two options based on its location, size and number. Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to freeze skin lesions. Minor surgery using radio frequency removes lesions with minor disruption of the skin tissue and a better aesthetic outcome.

Removal may be recommended if a mole shows irregular shape, uneven colour, rapid growth, itching or bleeding. A local anaesthetic is used, so you should only feel mild pressure.

Recovery

Healing usually takes one to two weeks depending on the method. Any procedure carries a small risk of scarring, and radio frequency surgery in particular is designed to minimise it. We provide aftercare instructions for the best cosmetic result.
