Professor Ghanem completed his surgical training with the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England, and obtained his PhD in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology from University College London. He has undertaken further training and fellowships at leading international institutions, including University College London, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Toronto.
He currently holds the position of Visiting Professor of Aesthetic Medicine at Ulster University, where he established the Department of Facial Aesthetics and serves as Programme Lead for the Master’s in Facial Aesthetics. He previously held an academic appointment at Queen Mary University of London. He has also held visiting professorships at the University of Barcelona and the Cardarelli Biotechnology Centre in Naples.
His clinical practice focuses on endoscopic and deep-plane facelift surgery, advanced laser and energy-based device treatments, regenerative injectables and fat grafting, and minimally invasive techniques for total facial harmonisation. He is the originator of the Total Facial Refresh™ protocol, an integrated approach to facial harmonisation.
Professor Ghanem is also Founder and Director of the Academy of Aesthetic Regenerative Medicine, which provides advanced training for surgeons and practitioners in evidence-based aesthetic practice. His academic contributions have been recognised with the Arnold Huddard Medal of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Education Excellence Innovation Award from the London Deanery.
At the 2025 Aesthetic Medicine Awards, he was named Aesthetic Practitioner of the Year (Surgeon), with The Ghanem Clinic recognised as Aesthetic Clinic of the Year for both London and the United Kingdom.
He lectures regularly at international scientific meetings and serves as a key opinion leader to industry partners in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors.
