Facial Veins
Facial veins are small pockets of veins that run close to the surface of the skin that have become enlarged.
Facial veins are small pockets of veins that run close to the surface of the skin that have become enlarged.
Facial veins are very small blood vessels just beneath the surface of the skin that have burst, making them dilated and visible. The resulting red, web-shaped appearance gives them their common name, spider veins. They are also referred to as thread veins.
Spider veins on the face are very often caused by increased pressure or sun damage. Although harmless, they can cause people affected by them to feel self-conscious and insecure.
At Meyer Clinic, we have a range of procedures to treat facial veins – please talk to us to find out more.
This treatment uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to safely and effectively fade the appearance of facial red veins. At Meyer Clinic our expert aesthetic therapists use Skin Rejuvenation to achieve fantastic results. IPL works by picking out the red pigment of the veins and then breaking it down through targeted heat. The focused light eliminates only the red veins, leaving the surrounding skin healthy and vein free.
A particularly effective treatment for improving the appearance of facial veins electrolysis works by directing a low current onto the surface of the skin where the facial veins are present. The effect is to cauterise the blood vessel and remove it, simply by the application of heat. Book in for a consultation with one of our aesthetic therapists to find out more.
If facial veins are in their early stages our skin experts may recommend using a retinoid cream such as the medically-graded ZO Retamax™ as part of a prevention plan. Retinoids can help reduce the visibility of facial veins and boost the health of the skin. Retamax™ aids in skin rejuvenation by triggering the natural formation of collagen and restoring the skin barrier function by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid, the skin’s most vital natural hydrating factor.
